Abstract:
|
Currently in the field of graphic design, it is up to the designer to identify their level of dedication to the environment, and more importantly their capabilities in the area of sustainability. Unlike architecture, which relies on L.E.E.D. (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, there currently exists no rating system in the field of graphic design that verifies a designer’s sustainable practices. Creating a binary rating system that determines “sustainable,” and “non-sustainable” would allow graphic designers to be verified by a third-party organization. This third-party organization certification would allow designers to provide documentation to potential clients that reveal their capabilities in the area of sustainable materials and methods.
