Abstract:
|
"Creating a new superhero character can be difficult in an oversaturated genre. Building upon
pre-existing character archetypes and manipulating pre-existing genre tropes is a creative way to
build something new. Creators that wish to contribute to the superhero genre should consider
what character archetypes exist, what different perspectives they can examine, and how they can
remain familiar, but fresh. Instead of letting the crowded superhero market hinder creativity,
modern creators should use that audience familiarity to their advantage."
