"This thesis elaborates on the idea that the usage of ambiguity in an animated film has the ability to add levels of intrigue and interpretation, which leads the audience to have a more engaged interaction with the film. This thesis uses research material to elaborate and explain the proposed concept and provides a consolidated definition of Ambiguity in the context of art and animation film-making. Various elements in animated film-making that can contribute to the ambiguity of a film and the accompanying visual component explains how ambiguity in animation can lead to further interaction with the audience’s experience of the film. Ambiguous elements are not only important, rather they are essential in film structure in order to create unique appeal and insightful work that makes the audience think and interact more deeply with a film."
