Abstract:
"In this age of personal devices, comics have joined many other forms of entertainment in the world of digital delivery and display. This shift in the landscape has allowed creators to use the digital space itself as another tool to tell their stories. Comics that rely heavily on the usage of their digital display in order to be fully appreciated are known as digital-native comics. This thesis discusses the key factors that lead to the emergence of digital-native comics, explores the methods of visual narrative presented by the digital environment, and speculates on how the story within a comic can be enhanced further by taking advantage of what the digital environment can do."
