Abstract:
This project is a study of music in video games, with a focus on its function within the game world. This includes both how the music was utilized within the context of the video game, as well as how the music is implemented mechanically into the game engine. For this study, several pieces of music were created for the video game, Grave Mistakes, developed by students from Savannah College of Art and Design’s Interactive Design and Game Development program. The music was composed with a focus on theming for the main antagonist and the game’s world. The methods and theory of this music’s creation will be detailed.
