Abstract:
This thesis will examine the construction and layering processes involved within memory and its correlation with identity. The images presented in Fragment are a manifestation of my own human condition. I use my personal experiences and vulnerabilities to create a collection of tangible objects out of intangible moments. The images are a dissection and visual analysis of how my memory informs my sense of self. They form a self-referential but non-sequential narrative that speaks to the collective human identity. It is my intention that these photographs represent my personal mental landscape and will act as a mirror in order to transcend my understanding of identity to a universal experience.
