Abstract:
My thesis focuses primarily on the necessity of script structure and genre conventions. However, this thesis does not emphasize these structures or conventions. Instead my scripts focus on the
writer’s ability to develop a unique voice while still adhering to the strict rules usually associated with certain genres including action, horror/thriller, and comedy. The collective aim of this thesis was to analyze not only these conventions, but also why these conventions appeal to audiences. Furthermore, this tries to prove this belief through both original script creation (a one act play, a television pilot, and a feature length screenplay) and scholarly researched paper.
