Abstract:
|
Ready to assemble furniture is one of the fastest growing furniture markets in the world. RTA furniture has become a consumer friendly alternative due to lower prices, design innovations and value. Lower costs usually reflects lower quality materials and not so user-friendly assembly experiences. This thesis explores the possibilities of developing a user-friendly experience by reducing complexity during the assembly process. Identifying the tasks involved during the assembly process are the key in developing a user-friendly assembly experience. This thesis examines the assembly-tasks that contribute to assembly difficulties and offer a possibility of what can be done to improve value.
