Abstract:
|
Perfect Imperfection is a critique and analysis of humanities’ perception of perfection and imperfection
relating to the psychological system in which we live and operate. Through introspective
installations, this work reflects the perfection and imperfection of nature and artificiality. The
historical, cultural, and philosophical effects of perception inspire people to speculate about their
choice between reality and disguise. The application of cosmetics onto natural objects in Perfect
Imperfection reflect people’s private psychological activity and decision-making, where the
product itself is quiet and not instantly known, mimicking cognitive choices that are not readily
understood or immediately noticed by others. The artificial material smeared onto natural objects
brings a new understanding and perception of the reality people conceal. This work has sprouted
from the influence of materiality on work, responding to space for an installation, exploration of
attempting to understand humanity, nature, and the power of a positive attitude and outlook.
