Abstract:
|
Born in rural Southeast TN, I have been aware of my heavy southern accent while studying to be an actor. Overcoming my accent has been a challenge throughout my acting career. For my thesis, I will perform a role that requires me to lose my accent and replace it with that of a Jewish man born in New York City in his late fifties. Implementing my actor training, I will use the techniques I have learned in graduate school to fully realize and execute a believable performance in Charles Busch’s play Die Mommie Die.
