Abstract:
This thesis includes Little Maple, an original screenplay about a girl who escapes from a town planning to experiment and use the town youth as part of their cult's prophecy. As a thriller-horror, the screenplay's themes include cult culture, academic pressures, and the idea of the "perfect" human being. More details about these themes are discussed in the scholarly paper. The paper discusses the five movies inspired in creation of Little Maple: The Wicker Man (1973), Children of the Corn (1984), The Stepford Wives (1984), Disturbing Behavior (1998), and The Faculty (1998). A works cited page is included.
