Abstract:
Between abstraction and representation we can uncover new meaning, make the invisible visible, and start to understand the complexity of interpretation. Out of Body is a photographic series exploring notions of the photographic real and the subjective and objective experience associated with medical imaging. Through direct indexical impressions, Out of Body disrupts notions of the photographic real, the uncanny, and the otherwise unphotographable and asks the viewer to explore the interpretive experiences associated with both artistic and scientific representations of the human body.
