Abstract:

This thesis focuses on Landfill reclamation and implementing New York City Fresh Kills Landfill to a sustainable future. Introducing a park Recreational Facility on the site and a large expanse of underutilized City land. Also preserving the wetlands and adding 2,163 acres of new public space along the waterfront areas. These uses would be compatible with and support the land uses found in the surrounding area and would represent a significant positive change over the future of Staten Island.
