Abstract:
In American mainstream comics, there is a tendency to omit certain groups of minority individuals and rely on stereotypes of those minorities when present. Individuals like Native Americans, gays, Middle Easterners, persons living nomadic lifestyles, and other minorities are ignored and the current formula of a physically fit male Caucasian living in a version of New York City applied. This thesis explores the reasons for lack of diversity and suggests solutions for the issues.
