Yellow Houses on Barnard
Creator:
Jones, Myrtle
Description:
Watercolor painting of yellow houses on Barnard Street. The image is from a scan of a slide from Myrtle Jones Collection, MS 002. The slide was used in the publication of her book, A Savannah Experience: an artistic expression of my life in Savannah, published in 1995.
Artist's statement: "Yellow Houses on Barnard was among 22 of my paintings exhibited from 1971 to 1973 in former President Jimmy Carter's office in Atlanta. This was another scene I spotted while driving around downtown. While I painted in the front seat, my husband Bill and the dog waited patiently in the back."
